Choose the Right Approach for Your Conservatory

A replacement roof changes the external roof covering. An internal insulated ceiling is a different type of work. The right route depends on the condition of your roof, frames and base, as well as the finish you want.

Tiled Conservatory Roof Replacement

A tiled roof offers a solid external finish, as shown in our completed projects. Ask about the roof shape, tile appearance and internal ceiling you have in mind. The existing structure must be assessed for the proposed system.

Low-Pitch and Flat Roof Options

For a low-pitch or flat roof, ask whether an EPDM rubber roofing system is appropriate. Roof shape, drainage and the condition of the existing construction affect the recommendation.

Internal Ceiling Insulation

Internal ceiling insulation adds an insulated ceiling beneath the existing roof. It does not replace the outer covering or resolve structural defects. Tell us about leaks or condensation so these can be assessed before any upgrade is recommended.

Can Your Existing Conservatory Take a New Roof?

Before choosing a roof, have the existing frames, base, roof supports and drainage checked. Their condition and the proposed roof system determine what work is suitable.

Tell us about leaks, damaged panels, draughts or condensation, and how you would like to use the room. These are reasons to investigate; they do not automatically mean you need a full roof replacement.

Picture the Finish Inside

Craig’s completed project pairs a white panelled ceiling with recessed lights. The photographs show the internal finish alongside the tiled exterior.

At your survey, discuss the ceiling finish, lighting positions and any glazing you want to retain. Ask what is included in the proposed work before you decide.

Questions Before You Decide

A few useful answers before you plan your conservatory roof project. Your survey is the time to discuss what is suitable for your own home.

Sometimes, but this needs a survey. The frames, base, roof supports and drainage must be suitable for the proposed system. Ask what structural work, if any, is required and how any building-control requirements will be handled.

There is no single best roof for every conservatory. Roof shape, structural condition, natural light and your preferred internal finish all matter. Compare a replacement roof with an internal ceiling upgrade, and ask for a recommendation based on your property.

A roof upgrade should be considered around how you want to use the space and the work your property needs. We cannot promise a particular increase in property value. If resale value is your main concern, seek advice from a local property professional before committing.
